Hi Das, How did you arrive at this conclusion?
Good work… I need this kind of software for my projects. I work in marketing agency and with so many issues and research, I really can’t stand. I have tried a lot of them and as far as I have worked on them, I’m satisfied. Need some more features on some of them, but it is ok for now.
Hi Mark,
It is very difficult to something useful about this subject, however an identifier in my opinion is the one I used in this case: search AfterVote.com (a meta search engine) for “project management software” and sort by alexa ranking. Result may very per query. I know this is open for lots of discussion
There are much better project management solutions available on the web. This is not a reliable source for this kind of tools. All these software packages just contain keyword of project management in them. To be successful you need innovative features, not empty word. Regards
Features, pricing, availability, support of the system, future outlook for the software, architecture, and lots more.
“There must be fifty ways to leave your lover”
Well, useful info. The only this that makes my doubt is that these are most visited project management software sites. This doesn’t mean these tools are the best, it may mean that software developers spend lots of money on advertising. We use Wrike for our projects, you’ll find it here http://www.wrike.com/ We found it through referral, and are very happy with it. The tool saves us loads of work and time.
Capterra is a good resource for finding Project Management Software.

Don’t forget about Copper Project, the mac-esque product of the field.

Check out ProjectOffice.net, http://www.projectoffice.net, an online project management tool that provides all-in-one functionality: managing projects and tasks, time management, issue tracking system and increased team collaboration through wikis.
ProjectOffice.net is a web-based solution that offers basic project management functionality and enhanced collaboration for its users and their teams. It is completely free of charge and can be used after the one-step registration has been completed. With ProjectOffice.net, individuals and teams can create projects and tasks, can assign tasks to project members, can track time, expenses and issues and can use wikis to boost collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Try something simple and intuitive – http://www.yutiti.com . Most of project management solutions are easy to make a schedule but hard to reschedule. Our easy drag & drop functionality makes it a real RESCHEDULER.
Dear Bas,
You said “top 10 project management websites” NOT products. I agree with WikiPedia and ProjectManagementSoftware.org but the rest are products. And if your want a top ten for products this is not the one.
Also have a look at http://www.e-lm.com/pm_home.php – this is a comprehensive suite of tools for programme and project management including dashboards, milestones, budgets, risks, issues, change requests, document repository and more.
Depends on what you are managing. The market for PM software is somewhat clouded. Many tools that are really only suitable for managing very simple projects with limited tasks and no shared resources badge themselves as project management software.
If you are operating in a scenario with multiple projects, shared resources etc then you need to dig out true PM software. So these vendors now call themselves PPM Software to try to distinguish themselves.
It really depends on what your needs are – simple is good if that is what you need.
One thing I will say – evaluate, trial, test. Ask the vendor questions. Just because software is “PM Software” doesn’t mean you can manage projects with it. Ask the following.
-Drag and drop scheduling?
-Automatic rescheduling (or do I have to shift every task when the project moves)?
-Can I assign multiple people to tasks (with different estimates / and at % of their working time)?
-Support for x4 dependency types?
-Support for constraints?
-Level resources / resolve resource conflicts?
-Individual resource level calendars?
-Dashboards to review project status / performance?
-Skill profiles for resources?
-Time tracking with approval?
-Align / prioritise projects?
-Can the tool be configured (all organisations are different)?
You can find out more about this in the resource centre at our site http://www.iplanware.com. As for project management websites… http://www.gantthead.com/ http://www.maxwideman.com/
Hello,
I am the author of Minuteman and MinuteManPlus, listed above.
Many thanks to whomever included the MinuteMan website.
By way of introduction I am an Engineering Manager who (a number of years ago) got frustrated with the complexity and cost of Microsoft Project and decided to write something more in line with my needs.
Apparently a lot fo other people feel that way about MS-Project and other offerings – and business has been quite good.
And no I don’t spend a lot on advertising – I just make sure the website has relevant info and that seems to bring visitors in.
Our company is small but growing fast, and outgrew our Excel timesheets. We are now using Pacific Timesheet On-Demand (http://www.pacifictimesheet.com) for the last few months and it has really streamlined time tracking, time report and billing. We added payroll integration last month to integrate with our Lawson system, and have seen near 100% adoption across the company.
I hope this helps!

Pacific Timesheet – Web Time Tracking Software
I would like to incorporate http://www.dovico.com/ into the Top 10 Project Management Software Websites. DOVICO online timesheet and project management software provides proven project tracking and also time management software for cost savings. Established over 15 years ago in response to the emerging global demand for improved corporate efficiency, our project management software and time tracking software has been embraced by thousands of the world’s best-known and most successful companies.
Its a pity these sites are still bubbling to the top. There are so many cool new project management applications like http://www.teameffect.com and http://www.actionthis.com
I agree with Sally, advertising dollars has a lot of influence on these alexa ratings. Another great tool worth checking out is Intervals, which is certainly in the same category as the ten above.
As a vendor of project software for over 15 years, projectkickstart.com is a website work checking out.

Better Projects = Better Business
I recommend to try my favorite project management tool from http://wwww.5pmweb.com with intuitive interface, export data from Basecamp and Google docs and etc.
I definetely agree that Wikipedia is on the top. It encompasses most of the software available or at least … worth checking out. As to other commercial sites – it’s hard to tell. They spend a lot of on positioning.
